Yvonne is CFO of Coppel Holding Company since November 2018 after 12 years working closely advising the Company and its Chairman. Mexico is the 15th economy of the World and Coppel, with 8.2 billion dollars in sales, is the 28th largest company in the country and the 7th most active employer. Coppel Retail’s footprint includes 1,500 stores that average over 25,000 square feet each and is the largest chain catering to the mass middle market of 70 million clients. Retail traffic is leveraged with store-branded financial services such as credit cards and personal loans, in addition to traditional banking services through BanCoppel and pension fund management via Afore Coppel. Coppel is the 7th banking branch network, Afore Coppel is the largest pension fund manager by clients, and the Company is the largest consumer finance player in Mexico.
She sits on boards in the US that include NeuroCytonix (health), Cool Planet (agriculture), Uniken (cybersecurity) and chairs the board of Liventia (biotechnology). She sits on boards in Mexico that include Credix (financial institution) and the National Stroke Association. Previous Board assignments in Mexico and Argentina include Mobica (retail), Fincamex (housing) La Fábrica del Taco (restaurants) and Somaki (manufacturing).
Yvonne’s strength is strategy and finance with over a decade of experience leading several dozen company turnarounds for clients of Convixión, an advisory services business she co-founded in 2007. Convixión’s business model is a hands-on approach to designing and then implementing business strategy for institutionalization, growth and profitability within a framework of strong corporate governance. She has advised companies and government entities in Mexico, the United States and Argentina, including international names such as Best Buy and Prudential and over fifty companies of all sizes in retail, banking, biotechnology, health, housing, marketing, manufacturing and entertainment. In addition to Convixión, she built businesses from the ground up in health, biotechnology, legal services, entertainment and non-profit, heading up most of these as CEO in their initial phases.
Prior to her working independently, Yvonne spent a decade in financial services, mainly with BBVA Bancomer, the largest financial Group in Mexico, subsidiary of BBVA of Spain where she became one of the youngest members of the Executive Team. At BBVA Bancomer she held positions such as CFO of Finanzia (a credit card and auto loan division managing 4 billion dollars and 7 million customers), and headed up initiatives such as Corporate Strategy, Value-Based Management, Competitive Analysis and Rating Agencies.
Yvonne has ample market experience, having been a Senior Research Analyst, an Institutional Sales Executive and then Investor Relations Officer for BBVA Bancomer, publicly listed on the Mexican market with 10 billion dollars in market cap. Her team was ranked as one of the top three in Latin America by LatinFinance and she was awarded among the top three IROs in Latin American large caps by IRMagazine. During her career, Yvonne has led investment banking debt, capital, seed, growth and M&A transactions worth over 1.3 billion dollars.
